My original reason for buying this car was to use it as a daily driver.  The previous January I had purchased a Dark Cherry Metallic 1996 Impala SS with 2,300 original miles.  Back and forth to work at the Bessemer, AL Airport (I'm a Corporate Pilot) came to almost 100 miles per day and I was really piling up the miles on the SS!

Unit C4-204, a 1994 Caprice Classic 9C1, went into service with The Texas Department of Public Safety at the Denton, Texas Station on March 15th, 1994.  It spent its last 10 days at the Recruit Driving School and was retired on December 12, 1997 with 107,413 miles on the odometer.  I purchased this 9C1 from Kevin Hamman of Dallas, Texas, on August 28th, 1998, with 109,320 miles on the odometer.

The ride home to Alabama was uneventful, except for 2 "curiosity" stops by the Louisiana State Police.  Their patrol vehicles were very tired 1992 Caprice 9C1's.  The car ran well (got 22 mpg), A/C was ice cold, and all the power options worked as advertised.

There were a number of reasons for selecting this 9C1.  It had been a Supervisor's car and a "take home" unit.  It had no holes from installed equipment (spotlights or light bars), except for a DPS installed trunk lid antenna.  It had all the power options installed, including cruise control.  Sadly, it did not have rear window defrost or a limited slip differential (positraction).

This 9C1 was delivered with factory Black/White paint, but was repainted all Black and the big spotlights added at some point during its time in service.  Kevin Hamman bought this car at a DPS auction exactly as you see it in the pictures above.
