This car was built at the Chevy plant in
Arlington, Texas. A 6-speed manual transmission
was installed over 2 years ago and the car is a
dream to drive. The 4.10 rear end gears are
perfectly mated for the size of this car.
The torque is incredible. It seats 5
comfortably and you can fit 3 large suitcases, 2
golf bags, and the stock full size spare in the
trunk. I get 24mpg on the highway in 6th
gear. I recently purchased a 6 speed 99
Corvette and I already have another Impala SS
clone in the garage. I've decided to sell my
very rare and unique car to someone that will
enjoy it as much as I have.
My car is in
excellent mechanical condition and I have receipts
for the following maintenance performed in the
last 10,000 miles, I do all of my own work on my
cars:
1. OEM/Factory Optispark distributor,
plus distributor shaft seal and o-ring 2.
OEM/Factory Water pump, plus o-ring and gasket
3. OEM/Factory platinum spark plugs and Taylor
wires 4. Monroe Severe Duty Shocks - all
around 5. Eibach lowering springs 6. BF
Goodrich tires all around (full tread) 265 fronts
and 295/50/15 rears! That's W I D E !! 7.
New radiator and coolant flush 8. OEM/Factory
ignition coil and coil wire

I've taken this car on a number of long road
trips and it is a breeze to drive and the seats
are super comfy. Most recently, I drove it
for 16 hours, only stopping for gas/food. I
cannot think of another vehicle that matches it in
terms of fuel economy (24mpg in 6th gear on the
hwy), performance (330 ft/lbs torque), magazine
tested 0-60 in 6.6 seconds, 12 inch disc brakes on
all four corners, factory tow rating of 7000lbs
with the tow package and Class IV hitch, handling,
smooth ride, seating for 5, great looks, and
price. |

The only blemishes with the car are as
pictured with the paint. The paint is super
shiny and very glossy and smooth, but apparently
the previous owner had it re-painted and the paint
was not mixed correctly. In the pictures,
you'll see where the paint has "shrunk" and
cracked. Even after looking over the car, I
still purchased it, as 95% of the paint looks
great, and well, how many 6 speed manual tranny
Impala SS / Caprices have you ever seen? You
can see some paint chips on the edge of the hood
that meets the grille and there's a white bump
mark from another car that backed into just the
bumper. On the rear bumper are some slight
bubbles on the rear bumper - where I imagine the
paint wasn't mixed correctly for a flexible
bumper. On the curved sections of the
c-pillar, you can find more cracks. They
haven't peeled up, the paint just "shrunk" and
pulled apart. You'll see the same "shrunk"
marks on the hood, as pictured.
Look
carefully on the sides of the car - there's no
dents or door dings, as I always park in the last
parking row anywhere I go. For a car that's
10 years old, that's pretty
incredible.
Overall, I love the mean looks
of the car with a lowered stance, wide tires,
black exterior, and Corvette-style vintage Rallye
wheels and center caps. Knowing that there's
a 4.10 rear end and 6 speed tranny in there, it's
simply the best combination for a great all around
and practical four door sedan with LT1 performance
to back it up. |
